In this video you will discover an individual training routine for practicing the bump pass
It will include three exercises: juggling in place, juggling while walking, and juggling against a wall.
First, juggling in place.
This exercise allows you to warm up your upper body
Throw the ball in the air, just above your head
Catch it and juggle the ball by bumping it repeatedly
To learn more about bumping, watch our video on "receiving"
Chain together as many bumps as possible without dropping the ball and staying in the same position as best you can
Secondly, juggling while walking forwards
This exercise allows you to warm up your arms, legs, and back.
Stand at one side of the court and walk the width of the court while bumping the ball up and down
Go back and forth three times
Once you have mastered this stage, try to walk under the net while juggling and walking, without dropping the ball.
Third, juggling against the wall
This exercise tests your skill and prepares you to move around to bump the ball
Stand about two meters from the wall.
Throw the ball against the wall, in front of you and high up
Meet the ball as it falls and bump it high against the wall
Chain together as many bumps as possible while staying in roughly the same position.
Once you have mastered this step, try it again but this time side-step along the wall.
Move first to the left and then to the right, about a dozen meters each way.
Repeat this warm up as many times as necessary. Over to you!
