blend 4 tomatoes in a mixer
heat one tablespoon of sunflower oil in a pan
add 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds
add 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds
next add some curry leaves
add some ginger and garlic
add 2 diced onions and cook them until they turn pink
add 1/4 teaspoon or turmeric powder
add 1/2 teaspoon of chily powder
add 2 teaspoons of salt
finally add the blended tomatoes and mix thoroughly until the chutney thickens
tomato onion chutney can be eaten with different south indian dishes such as idly, dosa and uttapa.
