cut small pieces of ginger into a blender
add two green chilis
add two cups of grated coconut
add one cup of chana dal or gram dal
next add some fresh coriander leaves
add one and half teaspoons of salt
add some water and blend the ingredients for one minute
you can add water as needed
empty the chutney into a bowl
heat one table spoon of sunflower oil in a pan
add half a teaspoon of mustard seeds
add half a teaspoon of cumin seeds
next add some curry leaves
when the seeds begin to crackle, empty the mix into the coconut chutney
coconut chutney can be eaten with different south indian dishes, such as idly, dosa and uttapam
