Laying your own carpet may seem like a tricky job, but with this simple tutorial, you'll be able to put down your own carpet like a pro!

In this video, we are going to learn how to lay carpet.
Laying carpet is simple, aesthetic, and hides any imperfection in the floor, all while absorbing noise.
To do this you'll need: carpet, a vacuum, a broom, a mop, a screwdriver, double-sided adhesive tape, a cutter and a carpet smoothing tool, or a carpet stretcher or knee kicker
For this work, there are 4 steps, which will outline in detail
Step 1: Prepare the laying of the carpet
Carefully lift any dust from the floor with a vacuum cleaner
Finish dusting with a wet mop.
Leave to dry.
Unhinge the door and remove it.
Unscrew and remove the threshold strip.
Step 2: Place the double-sided adhesive tape
Start by applying the adhesive tape on the floor along the walls.
Lay it as close as possible to the skirting boards
Cover all the width of the doorframe with tape.
keep going along every wall in the room.
Then, lay a strip diagonally across the whole room .
Step 3: Unroll the carpet
Place the carpet roll near a wall leaving a 10cm (3") margin.
Fit the carpet the same way along all of the other walls in the room.
cut the carpet at the level of the doorframe.
Then, leave the carpet for 24 hours, it will expand or shrink slightly according to the humidity and the temperature of the room
Step 4: Laying the carpet
Fold part of the carpet to remove the protective backing of the double-sided adhesive tape.

fold the carpet back up on the other side and repeat the process.
Carefully mark the edges of the walls with the smoothing knife or carpet stretcher
Cut the carpet using the cutter and the smoothing knife or carpet stretcher
Screw the threshold strip back in place
Vacuum the carpet.
Put the door back on its hinges.
If the carpet is too thick, you may need to plane down the door
