How to Build a Greenhouse

In this video, you will learn how to assemble a glass greenhouse.

Although all greenhouses are different and come with their own assembly instructions, here we will give you some information on the general process.

To put up a greenhouse, you will need: an electric drill, a 5mm metal drill bit, a 10mm wood drill bit, a 10mm concrete drill bit, screws with screw anchors 10mm wide and 100mm long, concrete screw anchors, a set square, a screwdriver, and a spanner.

You will also need some 33mm x 33mm treated wooden rafters

Stage 1: Start by cutting the rafters to the correct length, which should be specified in the assembly instructions.

Stage 2: Place the first rafter on the concrete base, ensuring that it is correctly aligned. Make three holes with the electric drill using the wood drill bit. Make sure that the bit leaves a slight mark on the concrete base.

Stage 2: Remove the rafter. Drill holes into the base using the concrete drill bit.

Stage 3: Insert the screw anchors into the concrete, reposition the batten and fasten it to the base with the screws.

Stage 4: Hold the set square against the first rafter and position the next rafter at a right angle. Repeat the previous steps for the other three rafters.

Stage 5: Check the diagonals. These must be exactly the same length.

Stage 6: Once the battens are in place, organise the metal frame parts in numerical order.

Stage 7: Start by assembling the long sides of the greenhouse frame.

Next, put together the short sides, finishing with the door frame.

Stage 8: Now fasten the front side of the greenhouse, which includes the door frame, to the rafter.

Next put up the two long sides, and finally the back. The roof bar is then fixed into place.

Stage 9: Add the glazing seal.

All you need to do now is insert the glass panels into the frame, starting at the bottom and working your way up gradually.

Your greenhouse is ready, you can now start planting!
