In this video you will learn how to hit a backhand net shot.

The backhand net shot is hit from forecourt to forecourt to counter a drop shot.

It tumbles just over the net and brings your opponent forward, creating space in the rear court which can be exploited.

The three key steps are the preparation, the shot and the recovery.

Step 1 - The preparation.

Use a backhand grip.

Start with a split step and side-step forward toward the net on the backhand side.

Lunge on the racket foot and extend the non racket arm behind.

You should be on your rear foot toes to help you balance.

The racket head is angled downward below your hand and your knuckle should be facing upward.

Step 2 - The shot.

Raise the racket arm and push the shuttle gently over the net using the forward momentum of the body.

Try and reach the shuttle before it drops low as this will give the opponent less time to reach.

It is important that the grip is relatively loose and should be tightened only on impact.

A stiff arm and a tight grip will pop the shuttle high.

Step 3 - The recovery.

After the net shot get into the ready position and be prepared for the return.

Practice your backhand net shot until you manage hitting it close to the net.

Enjoy your game! .
