House fire
In this video, you will learn what action to take in the event of a house fire.
There are 2 possible scenarios:
I/ Scenario 1: the fire is outside your home:
Scenario 1: the fire is coming from outside your home:
Alert the fire services
Call the fire services as quickly as you can
2 Seal off your doors
Close all doors and seal the gap between the bottom of the door and floor with wet cloth.
3 Turn of the Gas
If possible, turn off the gas from the mains
4 - Make yourself visible
Stand by the window, so that the fire services can see you.
Only open the windows if the fire services tell you to.
Don’t go out into the stairwell and definitely do not use the lift
Scenario 2: the fire is inside your home
Scenario 2: The fire is inside your home
1 - Try to put out the fire
Try to put the fire out using wet cloths, an extinguisher or a lid if it is a kitchen pan that is on fire.
2 - Protect yourself
If there is smoke in the room, get down close to the floor and cover your mouth and nose with a wet cloth.
3 - Close the door
Close the door to the room where the fire is situated
4 - Turn off the gas
If possible, turn off the gas at the mains.
5- Alert the fire services
Call the fire services as quickly as possible
6 - Evacuate yourself and others
Get everyone out and don’t forget to alert your neighbours.
Do not use the elevator
