Discover the how to prepare an essential first aid kit. - The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest volunteer-based humanitarian network, reaching 97 million people each year through its 190 member National Societies. It operates with impartiality as to nationality, race, gender, religious beliefs, class and political opinions.The French Red Cross has run the Global First Aid Reference Centre since December 2012, following an agreement signed with the IFRC. The Global First Aid Reference Centre has the primary objective of serving as a technical expertise centre for the IFRC and providing support for the member National Societies on all questions pertaining to first aid. Thanks to its engagement and the engagement of the association SIKANA Education, this first aid awareness program was created. How to Prepare a First Aid Kit
In this video, you will learn how to prepare a first aid kit with everything necessary to administer first aid to an injured person:
- Antiseptic to disinfect wounds
- Adhesive dressings of different sizes for minor wounds
- Latex gloves to avoid contact with the casualty’s blood
- Sterile gauze pads (10 cm x 10 cm) to cover wounds
- A Roll of bandage to keep gauze pads in place
- Some scissors to cut gauze, bandages and dressings
- A Triangular bandage for an arm sling
- A Haemostatic dressing to stop bleeding
- A Survival blanket to keep casualty warm
- Some Eyewash solution to rinse eyes
- (some) Burn gel
- Pain relief
- Your personal medication
- A Cold pack
Include a sheet listing:
- the items in the kit and their expiry date;
- as well as emergency telephone numbers, such as the emergency services and poison control centres.
