In this video, we will learn how to make a polynesian style fire pit table
Caution, this job requires:
Protective gloves
Closed shoes
Time
To carry out this job, you'll also need:
a bow saw
a small axe
a sledgehammer or hammer
And a bucket or tub
You will also need
Around a dozen thin sticks of 1m20 in length
Some soil
water
some pebbles
This polynesian fire pit can be built in 3 steps which we will outline for you
Step 1: Making the structure
Cut down all of the wooden poles into stakes
Plant them in a circle in the ground. Pack them in together tightly and tilt them at around a 30 degree angle
See our video on cutting and planting a stake for more details
The stakes shouldn't be too inclined to avoid creating any large gaps between them.
Hit them hard to drive them into the ground
Check to make sure they don't move
If they do move, don't hesitate to drive them in even more
Step 2: Filling the pit
Using the soil and water, mix up a large quantity ofmud
It shouldn't be too liquid
Put some mud at the bottom of the inside of the pit to form a base
Position the pebbles in a circle around the base of the pit so that the mud doesn't escape out of the wooden structure
Fill once more with mud
Compact the mud down with your hands or feet so that it is well compressed against the wooden framework
If one or more of the stakes falls away you can wrap string around them
Repeat these steps, compacting the mud
Step 3: Finishing touches
Saw the stakes
Wait a few hours for the mud to dry
Once it has dried, you can light a fire
Now you know how to build a polynesian-style fire table!
