In this video, you'll learn how to do a backheel
In most cases, a backheel allows you to make a pass to a teammate behind you, and sometimes to score a goal
In this video, we'll show you the most common technique to do a backheel
A backheel is executed when you're stationary and steady on your feet
There are two technical points that are important when doing a backheel: the position of your plant foot and the point of impact between your foot and the ball
First of all, the position of your plant foot
Position your plant foot approximately twenty centimetres to the left of the ball, if you're right-footed
The plant foot is the foot that you don't kick the ball with. In this example, the plant foot is the left one
Next, the point of impact between the foot and the ball
Bend your leg to place it in front of the ball
Your leg must pass over the ball
Next, make a backwards movement with your leg whilst keeping it bent and kick the centre of the ball with the upper part of your heel
Don't worry about making a big movement with the leg you're kicking with, because this doesn't make any difference to the power of the kick
To do a backheel, line up your plant foot with the ball and kick the centre of the ball with the upper part of your heel
Over to you!
