In this video you will learn how to improve your ball control.
To get started all you need is a football and 4 cones.
Improving your control of the ball will make you better at kicking, passing and dribbling.
Check out our videos on ball control. We are going to demonstrate 3 exercises which will work on control with the inside of the foot and directed controls
First of all, stand in front of a wall, about 3 metres away.
Pass the ball to the wall and wait for it to come back so that you can control it with the inside of your foot and pass it back to the wall again.
Measure the force of your pass so that its neither too gentle nor too strong to be controlled.
If this is easy for you, direct the ball to the right first and then pass it to the wall.
Then do the same using your left foot
Secondly, remain 3 metres from the wall.
Juggle the ball with your feet 3 times and then bounce it off the wall.
Control the ball so that it doesn't touch the ground.
Thirdly, take the ball in your hands and throw it about 5 metres above you.
Control it with the top of the foot (where your laces are) and then put the sole of your foot on the ball.
If you can manage to do that, put 4 cones on the ground, 5 metres away from you.
one in front , one behind, one to the left and one to the right.
Throw the ball up in the air and control it again with the top of the foot.
Then direct it with either the inside or the outside of your foot depending on which cone you are aiming at.
If you manage to do that, throw the ball up and practise close control by coming into contact with the ball only when it touches the ground.
Aim the ball towards the cone before kicking it.
Avoid kicking the ball too far from you as you will lose it in a match situation.
Now you know how to improve your ball control!
