warm-up exercises for the lower body before swimming
In this video, you are going to learn how to warm up your lower body before swimming. Warming up is essential before beginning a sporting activity. It helps to improve performance and reduces the risk of injury.
We are going to warm up the lower body starting with the feet and working upwards : the ankles, the knees and the thighs.
Stand with your feet hip-width apart.
Push your heel forward keeping the toes on the ground, then return to the starting position.
Do this movement with one foot, then the other.
Next, the knees. Bring both your feet and your knees together. Place your hands on your knees.
Now bend the knees and make a circular movement keeping the feet planted to the floor
Continue doing this movement for about 30 seconds.
Next, the thighs. Stand with both your feet parallel to a wall and lean on it gently for support.
Swing the leg closest to the wall forwards and backwards for 30 seconds, then turn around and do the same with the other leg.
To warm up your lower body, you should work on your ankles, knees and thighs. The warm up should last about 10 minutes. Over to you!
