In this video, you will learn to bind the armholes of a Jhabla.
Binding ensures that the edges of your garment are protected, while also giving it a neat finish.
To learn how to stitch the casing along the neckline, watch the previous video.
Place your jhabla onto the wrong side.
Take a strip of the binding material prepared earlier.
We shall stitch it along the edge of the armhole from one end to the other, as shown.
Keep the edges aligned as you progress and trail off the edge when you reach the end.
Cut the thread and the excess binding material, if any.
Repeat the same process on the second armhole.
Open the strip of fabric as shown, and finger press the stitches.
We shall now fold the free edge over onto the right side to be stitched in place.
After you have flipped the Jhabla onto the right side, take the raw edge of the strip and fold it in half along its width.
Finger press the fold to create a crease and fold the raw edge again to make a double fold, as shown.
Once this is done, place one end of the armhole under the needle and stitch the binding in place.
Remember to start and end with a reverse stitch.
Cut the thread and any excess binding.
Repeat the same step to finish binding the other armhole.
You have now learnt how to bind the armhole of a Jhabla.
